Holiday Cottages in Craster and Embleton

Luxurious handpicked holiday homes and holiday cottages in Craster and Embleton. An ideal base to explore the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The iconic village of Craster, famed for being home of the kipper, is a beguiling mix of spectacular scenery, with charming fisherman’s cottages set around a working harbour, coupled with excellent amenities on the doorstep including The Jolly Fisherman, the Shoreline Café, the Stable Yard Café just outside the village and the acclaimed Mick Oxley Gallery. The scenic coastal walks – think big skies, dramatic rocks, untamed seas and the majestic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle – are sure to blow away the cobwebs at any time of year.

There’s a small sandy beach within the harbour and rock and shingle beaches either side, along with some of our favourite local beaches nearby including the stunning Sugar Sands and the tiny hidden cove of Rumbling Kern, once the haunt of whisky smugglers. Fishing trips can be arranged from the harbour and the area is also renowned for its birdlife.

Nearby Embleton sits proudly on a ridge overlooking spectacular Embleton Bay, a gloriously wide sandy beach that stretches for miles with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle as a dramatic backdrop. In the village, there’s the Greys Inn for pub grub and just outside the village, Eleanor’s Byre offers tempting home baking, gifts and homewares.
